Our Support For Charity, Ted’s Light

Especially as we’re going through another lockdown, it’s so important to us to show support for charities. The most recent fundraiser we’ve taken part in was for Ted’s Light with the support of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. Our aim was to raise awareness for this wonderful charity and raise enough money to buy at least 50 bears for vulnerable children. We’re so pleased to say that we surpassed our goal and provided 60 bears!

About The Charity

Ted’s Light is an amazing charity providing vulnerable children going into emergency foster care comfort in the form of their own teddy bears and night lights. As you can imagine, being moved into unfamiliar surroundings is a scary and overwhelming experience for young children. Having a bear to hug and to love at this difficult time can make the world of difference to them.

Whilst we have a range of professionals in our firm ranging from divorce lawyers to conveyancing solicitors, we have a passion for the side of family law that protects children. We specialise in supporting children and families through difficult situations, and so this cause is particularly close to our hearts and we are proud to be supporting it.

The Impact of Our Work

This campaign involved a ‘name the bear’ style competition. We had a huge bear (and we mean HUGE!) brought to our offices, and we left it up to the public to decide a name for him and give him a new home. Anyone who donated a minimum of £5 to the charity could enter, and we raised a fantastic £443. Our family law firm then matched this figure, giving us enough funds to buy 60 bears for vulnerable children. The winning name was January and the bear has found a great new home with a little girl named Florence.

Hear From Stacey, One of Our Directors

Before the fundraiser, Stacey, one of the directors of our family law firm, said: “Fundraising during lockdown is always difficult, and people are financially struggling. If we can raise enough for 50 teddies in this difficult time I will be delighted for the charity and for the children who will then have the support of a Ted’s Light bear.

“Many people are currently working from home. Whilst the heating bills have gone up, our commuting costs have reduced. Even if every person reading this donated just a fraction of their weekly fuel or transport costs, we would be able to meet our target in no time at all.”

The support we’ve received from the community has been incredible and we are thrilled to have exceeded our target.
